Blog assignment#6

Kurzweil is optimistic about artificial intelligence. In the singularity is near the author writes, “machines can pool their resources in a ways that humans cannot” (Kurzweil 139). By writing this statement he means that machine memory is way to faster than human’s. Robots can make everything easy in our lives.
In Dream-Logic, the internet and artificial thought the author writes, “the man actually sees and senses a rose in his mind; he can imagine its color, feel and fragrance but for the computer, no imaginary rose exists and there is no inner mental world; there is only a blank" (Gelernter 207). By writing this statement the author meant that no matter what computer can never become stronger than humans, in the sense they can't never act the way human body and brain works. Humans have ability to sense things; computers will never be able to sense things the way human does. The feelings and emotions humans have; computers can't reach it, because the inventors of computers are humans.

My ENG103 research plan#1

Based on several sources, I will argue that the portrayal of autism in the film Temple Grandin is largely accurate in its depiction of Grandin's difficulties with emotions, social relationships and in its depiction of her powerful gift visualization and became as successful as normal people. I still have to find relevant book to my topic, but I’m trying my best to find one. I want to use one of essays from jstore, so I can use it as my source. These two sources are hard for me to find it, but I am still trying my best to find those sources.

research paper source

"Temple Grandin-conversations from penn state." Youtube. 20 April 2010. 10 November 2011.

This is related to my topic, so i would like to use this as one of my source.

Blog assignment#5

When it comes to robotics, I am more pessimistic. No doubt it makes everything a lot easier for us, but still in the future it creates a huge problem for humans. If everybody start using robots as their helper, than what will humans do? How are they going to feed their families and themselves? Gelernter writes, “no computer will be able to think like a man unless it can free-associate" (Gelernter 202). This statement is true; computer is technology that humans invented. It can never think the way humans do. Gelernter also writes," as each of us is surrounded by a growing crowd of computer-paparazzi all shouting questions and waving data simultaneously, and no security guards anywhere?" (Gelernter 202). It means that we are getting surrounded by new technology every day. Invention of technology is growing day by day and there is no body to control it. It is better for humans to get new technology in control before it changes our lives in a negative way.

Blog assignment # 2

if there are no emotions, there should be no understanding or relationship between human beings or animals. In order to understand someone individual should situate his or her character in to the person's state or have such kind of feelings; therefore, that individual can understand him or her emotionally. in our daily lives there are many things we do which is related to emotions, all have to go through such obstacles, to courage them to overcome with their problems we understand them which means that there is a connection between humans called emotions. to prove this idea of emotions, "An Anthropologist on mars" by Oliver sacks, shows that even temple grandin, who is autistic, feels the pain of animals. I disagree that "human beings do not really need emotions to connect with other human beings or animals or to behave morally with a sense of right or wrong."
In "an anthropologist on mars" the author writes, "she knows several non-autistic people..who seem able to see what they need to do (sacks 14). this quote illustrates that she knows many people, who are non-autistic and they have the same way of thinking. she is capable enough to create relationship. they have a lot of common things in between, but as we know it is hard for autistic people to build up relationship with someone.if she doesn't have any kind of emotions, she should not be able to understand that they have a lot of common things. also her childhood friend tom who she was very close to, the author writes that "they had sexual feelings; they rarely succeeded in dating or having sexual relationships (sacks 15). of she doesn't have any kind of feeling for her friend, why would she say that they rarely succeeded dating each other? being autistic can't make her emotionless, it is different matter that it is hard for her to feel others or her own emotions.

sample research paper thoughts

in my research paper i'll be careful of using "I" as an first person. i will make sure that my paper is organized and using of quote sandwiches. i will also use perfect wording for my research paper and citation.i will give perfect title to my research paper.

Blog assignment#4

Invention of new technology is affecting human’s daily lives in a negative way. In the article written by Nicholas war, “is Google making us stupid,” he suggests us that use of internet is breaking our concentration of being focused. In contrast, a Steven pinker in, “how is the internet changing the way you think?” point out that internet is making humans lazy and humans depend on internet. Bases on these sources, I agree that, “the internet is damaging our attention spans and interfering with our ability to think.

In “is Google making us stupid,” Nicholas Carr writes, “and what the net seems to be doing is chipping away my capacity for concentration and contemplation (Carr 20). He suggests us that the internet is breaking our ability of being focused and thinking deeply. By writing this statement the author tells us that, how easily the word “NET” breaks our concentration.

Besides, Steven pinker writes, “also widely rumored are the students who cannot write a paper without instant message abbreviations, emoticons and dubious web citations” (Pinker 30). He tells us that students can’t write their papers without using the instant messaging, email etc. the web usage is distracting for every human being and the outcome of using web all the time might become big problem.

ENG101 blog post # 1

Hello bloggers, my name is mansi and this is my first semester at LaGuardia community college. My goal is to get 24 credits as liberal arts major and transfer to Queens College for pharmacy program. i am more interested in science than humanities that's why, I prefer my career as an pharmacists. Pharmacy is all about chemistry. Sometime it is hard for me to understand all the formulas and stuff but still i really am interested in chemistry so i am positive about pharmacy. Everybody have their own perspectives so there are people who are interested in scientific study and also there are people who are interested in psychological study. I chose this cluster because it is related to brains, minds and consciousness and i always been interested something related to psychology and even though my major would be pharmacy i still would like to take some classes related to psychology. I think that psychologists and humanists do have something meaningful to say because it is related to our daily lives and our minds. So it is important for us to know how our brain and body works.  It will help us understand ourselves and others and also it will change the way we think.
